it started
with sam
Before there was occcy, there was Sam.
And before there was a company, there was a word.
Sam had a strange little habit.
Whenever someone brought him an idea, a problem, a new project, or something completely random, his response was often some version of:
Sometimes it was quick.
Sometimes it meant let’s actually do this.
Sometimes it meant I have absolutely no idea where this is going, but let’s see.
And over time, that simple “okay” became occcy.
Someone would pitch an idea.
Sam:
A new project appeared.
Someone suggested something that sounded completely crazy.
A pause.
Nobody remembers exactly when the word became part of everyday conversation.
It just did.
And then one day, we looked at it differently.
from a word to an idea
Sam didn’t want to build another website that existed simply to publish content.
He wanted to build something people could actually use.
A place where curiosity could take you anywhere.
technology.AI.products.reviews.testing.entertainment.gaming.movies.brands.internet culture.guides.trends.
The weird stuff.
The useful stuff.
The stuff everyone was talking about.
And the stuff nobody had thought to talk about yet.
That’s where occcy really began.
sam's rule:
try it
One of the ideas that shaped occcy was something Sam kept coming back to:
Don’t just tell people about something. Try it.
If it’s a product,
If it’s an app,
If it’s an AI tool,
If it’s a service,
If people are talking about something,
Because the internet already has enough people repeating what somebody else said.
Sam wanted occcy to get closer to the source.
That became part of the DNA of the publication.
the name stayed weird
We could have changed the name.
We probably should have.
But every time someone asked, “Why occcy?” the answer became more entertaining than any polished corporate explanation.
There isn’t a secret meaning.
There isn’t a complicated acronym.
There isn’t a forgotten ancient word.
And maybe that’s exactly why we kept it.
Because occcy was never supposed to sound like every other media company.
what sam wants to build
Sam’s ambition for occcy goes far beyond a website.
The goal is to build a world-class publication — one that can sit alongside the publications people already know and trust, while developing its own voice and way of doing things.
A place known for:
great stories.
honest reviews.
real testing.
useful guides.
smart technology coverage.
AI experiments.
entertainment.
curiosity.
Because modern life isn’t divided into neat categories.
Neither should a modern publication be.
from “okay”
to “let's go”
What began as Sam casually saying a funny version of “okay” became a name.
The name became an idea.
The idea became occcy.
And now we’re building it into something much bigger.
We’re still figuring things out.
We’re still trying things.
We’re still making mistakes.
We’re still asking questions.
But that’s part of the fun.
Because if Sam’s original response to a crazy idea was always:
Then perhaps the best way to describe the whole journey is:
